Cedar Valley GearHeads Ministries

Cedar Valley GearHeads Ministries believes that in the name of Jesus Christ we are able to serve God and serve others by partnering with individuals and businesses around the Cedar Valley to meet the basic transportation requirements of those in need.

Cedar Valley GearHeads Ministries (GearHeads) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa and surrounding communities.  Our mission is to provide safe, reliable vehicles at no cost to those most in need in the Cedar Valley.  We rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizations to support our ministry through the donation of vehicles, supplies, volunteers, and funds.  All donated vehicles are put through a 27-point inspection, test driven, and all needed repairs are made before the vehicle is matched to a family in need.

Often it is the up-front cost of purchasing a vehicle that makes it nearly impossible for low-income families purchase a vehicle of their own.  Lack of access to consistent, reliable transportation is a common cause for instability in the lives of the families GearHeads serves. While the Cedar Valley does have a public transportation system, it has its limitations in regards to service area and hours of operation. GearHeads is a unique organization in the Cedar Valley as it physically provides vehicles to families, empowering them to take charge of their lives in order to create a better, more secure life.

GearHeads is a ministry.  We believe the Lord gives us all different skills and opportunities to use His gifts for His glory.  We do not just give away vehicles; we build relationships.  We care about more than just the transportation needs of those we serve.  We care about helping families reach a new level of independence and self-sufficiency.  Everyone we come in contact with at GearHeads is treated with the utmost respect and consideration.
